Our Approach
Facilitate live virtual support groups that allow for tailored discussions and interactions addressing individuals' varied needs and experiences. In-person experiences will be available through mentoring program events and social outings at precoordinated dates/times.
1. Teen Support Group (Ages 15-17):​

Facilitated by trained counselors or experienced peer mentors.

Focused on addressing the challenges specific to teenagers coping with parental cancer, such as managing school stress, peer relationships, identity formation, and emotional regulation.

Provides a safe space for teenagers to express their feelings, share experiences, and connect with peers who understand their struggles.

Incorporates age-appropriate activities, discussions, and discussions of creative outlets (e.g., art therapy, journaling) to engage participants and promote self-expression and coping skills development.
2. Young Adult Support Group (Ages 18-22):

Facilitated by trained counselors with expertise in working with young adults and navigating the transition to adulthood.

Addresses the unique concerns and issues faced by young adults affected by parental cancer, such as educational and career aspirations, independence, relationships, and goal setting.

Encourages open dialogue, peer support, and mutual encouragement among participants, fostering a sense of solidarity and understanding.

Integrates practical discussions on healthcare decision-making, healthcare options, financial planning, and self-care practices relevant to young adults.
Each peer will have access to comprehensive resources to address the multifaceted challenges of coping with parental cancer. To ensure a coordinated and integrated approach, there will be collaborative partnerships with healthcare providers, schools, and community organizations. Guest speakers and workshops on future planning, holistic health, and personal healthcare will be conducted by leveraging collective expertise and resources to enhance the quality and impact of our services.
